Hi !
Is God a
Lifeguard or a Swim Instructor?
We were chatting in our Remarkable Community this morning about this...
That I’d rather be a swim instructor than a lifeguard.
I’d rather help you discover capability and possibility than spend my
time putting out your problems.
There’s a distinction there that matters. Always be investing. Investing gives you what you need - to be more cape- able (think super hero here) so you can surrender to more and more cool - fun - god given - possibilities....
Like I did....
Meeting her and moving around the world - just for fun...
And pure love...
You'll get gold from this next bit too...
So years and years ago, when I was a green belt in
KEMPO karate, a new kid came to class.
He was smooth. His body was strong. Supple. Built like a gymnast.
He could have been fabulous at kung fu. Much better than me.
But he wouldn’t be.
Because he didn’t stick around.
I’ll never forget my instructor. Third-degree black belt. Bob Coleman.
Bob watched him and said, “It’s a shame he’s not going to stick around. It’s a shame he’ll never get this.”
I didn’t understand.
“Bob, how do you know?”
He had been teaching this forever. I got that.
Imagine doing KEMPO for decades. He should’ve been at least a fifth-degree black belt.
But he walked away from the ranking system. Didn’t care about tests or politics. I’d do the same later.
But I digress.
Bob said, “Just notice what he does.”
So I watched the young buck.
- Every week the kid came to class and his focus was the same.
- What do you do against this kind of punch?
- What do you do when they do that?
- What do you do in a headlock?
- What do you do if
they’re bigger than you?
- What do you do when they get the jump on you this way?
- What do you do when you can't...
And then one day, he left.
Not because his questions weren’t answered.
Because he wasn’t taking a quest.
Becoming a Black Belt - was a quest of mine...
Quests change your life from the inside out....
Quests give you rewards you could't possibly expected before...
So I'm on a Neville Goddard quest it seems...
Because Neville and I agree...
"God became man so man could become God." – Neville Goddard
In other words, we chose to forget who we are and
how this works. So we could discover who we are and how this works. While giving ourselves the adventure of a lifetime. What a quest!
What an adventure!
Don’t take my word for it. Neville Goddard says this way more than once.
I just happened to stumble into living this way after having PTSD and choosing to end it all.
But let me ask you....
Really take this into your bones...
Not just your brain....
What if you actually are God having the adventure of a lifetime?
To do that – you've gotta build a strong foundation.
A base camp, to explore from.
The ultimate foundation is this. The ONE
cause.
Neville Goddard says, "Your imaginal act is God’s word."
He says skip the schools that teach affirmations. He doesn’t say make long mind movies.
He says IMAGINAL EXPERIENCE – your imaginal experience
– accepted as truth – is the WORD of God.
"Experience leads to experience." – Mr. Twenty Twenty
For most people, that means history. That their past experiences create more of the same. History repeats itself the slaves say.
"Once an addict, always an addict."
That’s a lie, unless you choose to live that way.
- "You are God having the adventure of a lifetime." – Mr Twenty Twenty
- "You came here for a divine purpose." – Neville
Neville says you came here to know imagination.
I'd suggest that. means…
"To know imagination is to notice as God." - Mr Twenty Twenty
And when you notice as God, you
notice something else.
You can change who’s noticing.
You don’t try to change the stuff.
You change the seer.
When you change how you see, when you change WHO is seeing, you
stop looking for signs.
I don’t look for signs that I am – in my state – of Happy Loving Teacher
I notice that I see EVERYTHING – when in that state – as a teaching opportunity.
Mabye, I get to teach
someone something. Or maybe I experience something that gives me joy and deepens my understanding of what I am teaching that day.
So yeah.
I’d rather be a swim instructor than a lifeguard.
Because a lifeguard stands there looking for
problems, trying to prevent problems. Fixing – problems.
A swim instructor helps someone discover ability and opportunity.
Have a great day.
